ABOUT TRANSFORMING TRAINING TEAMS
Helping Learning Teams Build Clarity, Capability and Confidence
Transforming Training Teams helps organisations understand how their learning functions really work, where pressure is building, and what needs to change to create better outcomes.
Led by Michael Wadley, the business supports learning leaders, training teams and operational organisations to review their systems, strengthen delivery, and move from reactive activity to purposeful improvement.
What I Focus On
- Learning strategy and operating model review
- Training team structure and capability
- Learning diagnostics and improvement planning
- Digital and blended learning delivery
- Workshops, facilitation and speaking
MY APPROACH
Practical Thinking for Learning Teams Under Pressure
Many learning teams are busy, committed and highly skilled. Even so, they often work inside systems that make improvement difficult. Priorities shift. Stakeholders ask for more. Delivery becomes urgent. Over time, teams can lose the space to step back and ask whether the system itself is helping or holding them back.
My work starts with clarity. Before recommending change, I help teams understand what is happening now. This includes how learning is designed, how teams collaborate, how decisions are made, and how delivery connects to wider organisational goals.
From there, the focus moves to useful action. The aim is not to create another strategy document that sits unused. Instead, the work should help leaders make better decisions, support teams with clearer priorities, and build learning systems that can adapt over time.
My Core Belief
Learning teams do not need more noise. They need clearer evidence, stronger conversations and practical ways to improve the systems they work within.
THE IRIS FRAMEWORK
A Structured Way to See What Is Really Happening
Much of my work is shaped by the Iris Framework, a practical model for reviewing and improving organisational learning. It helps teams look beyond isolated training activity and examine the wider conditions that shape performance.
Learning Design
How learning is planned, designed and improved so it supports real performance.
Pathways to Progress
How people move through learning, build confidence and continue to develop.
Stakeholder Collaboration
How learning teams work with others to create shared ownership and alignment.
Team Capability
How learning teams build the skills, roles and confidence needed to deliver well.
Delivery Environment
How tools, time, governance and conditions affect learning delivery.

ABOUT MICHAEL
Learning, Leadership and Practical Improvement
I have spent my career working at the point where learning, leadership and delivery meet. My work has focused on helping teams make sense of complex learning challenges, improve how training is planned, and build stronger systems for long-term capability.
I bring together experience in learning design, digital learning, team development, operational planning, consultancy and facilitation. This means I can support both the strategic conversation and the practical work needed to move things forward.
Transforming Training Teams was created to help organisations pause, look clearly at their learning systems, and make better choices about what to strengthen next.
HOW I WORK
Clear, Collaborative and Grounded in Evidence
Understand the System
We begin by looking at the real conditions affecting learning, not just the visible symptoms.
Make the Evidence Visible
We use structured reflection, diagnostic tools and honest discussion to build a shared picture.
Focus the Priorities
We identify what matters most, where action is needed, and what should not distract the team.
Support Practical Change
We turn insight into useful action through workshops, advisory support and improvement planning.
WHY IT MATTERS
Better Learning Starts With Better Visibility
When learning teams can see their system clearly, they can make stronger decisions. They can reduce waste, improve collaboration, support their people and focus on the work that creates lasting value.
That is the purpose of Transforming Training Teams: to help organisations move beyond activity and build learning functions that are clearer, stronger and more effective.
